I love to hate Apul. I talk ish to Drew abt his mak obsession, but I don't laugh at that stock he has in it! Anyway, itoons has thing called genuis and it is just that: genius.

Ghost is my fave wutanger and I may have more of his albums than most chicks do...

What a Job? The other side of the rap game as only devin and dre can spit it. Not too geeked on snoop's verse
Aww man, I need a drop top and it to be Saturday. This is feel good, crunk without "bus a nigga head" feeling music! I need to burn it and blast it in the Bose out front. Makbook speakers aren't doing this justice!

gotta do this more often
just woke up from a 4 hour nap
I don't know if it was something I ate (agae tofu, miso soup, raw tuna)... no, it's cause I left the radio on louder than usual while I was asleep. I usually fall asleep to the radio; set the sleep for somewhere between 90-120 minutes depending on how tired I am. I think "sleep" is the coolest invention on a stereo/radio BTW.
You know what else it might be? I don't fall asleep to "hip-hop and rnb" stations. I find my quiet storm channel or even some 80s wonderbread; meatloaf, jefferson starship sappy stuff to fall asleep to.
let me tell you about my dream.
First, I was in my classroom, in my reading center, sitting on one of the seats I have for the kids, calling the radio station. It must have beena teacher work day cause the students weren't there. I was caller number 10 and I didn't know what I won. The DJ told me and I said, "what?!" He got a little attitude and we had to do the call over so he can record me being excited. I thought he was looking over my winning record and telling the program director I can't get the john legend estelle tix cause I just won something else. Turns out I won the DVD "The Xpress", the nidsey movie about the 1st black heisman trophy winner. I feigned excitement (rather well), "OMG, I LOVE that movie! and I am the biggest fan of this station!" and it turns out, they forgot I won tix to the concert last month.
Then I was running around Sleapy Brown's house. he has leopard print floor tile. But not real leopard print, more like paw prints you'd see on a bulletin board at a school whose mascot is the bulldog (like mine). Matter of fact, his floor was my 'Wow! Wall' background. I was running around trying to catch him and Issac hayes was there chilling on the couch with my friend Kitty. Sleapy didn't want to be caught so I just went and took a shower in another part of the house that was totally different. It was sterile white and bland as opposed to the paw print side that had wood carvings and masks and paintings like a mini Africa exhibit (like our house). Kitty explained that Sleapy lives two lives; one based on who he is and the other based on karma coming his way. I blame that little gem on "Chopped and Screwed" playing sometime during my nap. Thanks Looda.
Then I was on a swim team and we were on our way to a swim meet. Our transport wasn't a bus or van but a G Wagon with sand colored interior. our swimsuits were light turquoise and white, down to the caps and goggles. the driver was the grandfather of a boy I had a crush on when I was in kindergarten. I kept on asking him to turn up the radio and he'd hold his hand up like, "Uh-uh-uhhhh!" I think we were supposed to get in the zone or something. Turns out our g wagon was also a boat cause we were driving over the ocean. The bottom of the truck was a raft and someone had a pocketknife. it punctured the bottom but what it REALLY did was inflate a submarine under the car. We were driving over them as there were speed bumps placed really close together. I feel like 2Poc and Pookeisha Cole were on at time.
Next, I was at publix getting food for the team. They sold subs for $.89/pound, I had an 8lb sub and everyone was like, "whoa!" *eye roll in dream*. I thought about getting this pre-made ham wrap for $.59 but my sub was made to my specifications, with shredded carrots and something else. That part I blame on the waitress where I had lunch. she was giving someone the ingredient run-down and I overheard.
I guess the team won cause the last part of the dream I remember was being at the club, (Rok Bar) popping champagne with j. Jones. Its obvious what song was on.
Then I woke up.
How fab is that dream?! OMG!

Not Happy
And being sick is the least of my worries. I can take medicine for that.
I am a 26 y.o. sleeping on the same TWIN bed she had since forever. I am in the only house I've ever known, with the same furniture and the only thing new is the junk and the color on the walls.
I am so not happy right now. It hits me like a ton of bricks how unfab this is and how it wasn't supposed to be like this. Up until Christmas Eve, everything was okay. Then people showed their asses and I've been on thin ice since then.
I am going to be 27. TWENTY SEVEN years old in 4 months. You think I still want to be cleaning the bathtub in my mother's house as if I'm getting allowance?
I washed my hair this afternoon. Blow drying it left some hair on the bathroom floor. Naturally, I swept it up, wipe the counter down and basically left the bathroom a little neater than I found it. Mom comes home and says, "I see you swept. Go ahead and take out the trash since you added your dirt to it"
Are you fucking kidding me? Are you serious? How many ti-
OMG, I can't.
My bro comes home from work and she asks him to take it out. The nice way to say "hell naw" comes out and the guilt tripping, hollering and shit begin. "Yeah, people want to lie in bed all day and not doing anything but be on the computer and do their hair and they expect me to clean up after them..."
Really? So after working 5 days -3 of them sick, 1 very sick- I have a Saturday to rest and actually sleep in seeing how I get up at 530am M-F and this is the bullshit I have to hear? Are you fucking kidding me??! Get the fuck out of here with that bull shit!
Then there's the BF who quite frankly, has been on my list. Last year when I was sick, he picked me up, took me to his place and cared for me. His ole physical touch self was even demanding kisses despite my runny nose and sneezing fits. Yesterday, I get the text, "are you contagious? Maybe you should stay up there cause I don't want to get sick"
Are YOU fcuking kidding me?! I'm over you right now. I'm over this 13 year bestfriendship 2 year relationship and all we do is meet up on the weekends as if we're some college students in a long distance relationship. 2 years of a pseudo long distance relationship? Really?! I'm good enough for sushi only on the weekends? That was cute at first, but not when you're a 26 bout to be 27 year old who is still sleeping on the same twin bed she got when her little sister was born almost 19 years ago. If this is what you want, come see me in Texas.
Oh yeah, I ended up taking the trash to shut her up. You know I'm pissed the fcuk off now. On top of being sick. This is NOT the beat.

Intrinsic Rewards
I'm a teacher. Obviously, I'm not doing it for the money, I do it for the love of children. For Christmas, one of my favorite students got me a snowflake! It was the cutest little craft thing; had a letter from my name hand-painted on each of the little arms + an S in the middle. I should've taken a picture of it before we put everything away... but the little things are what drives me to teach. The notes with inventive spelling, the hugs before they go home...
anyway, there are some "rewards" I can do without.
Colds.
My internship semester, I had a nasty cold.
My first year teaching I had two nasty colds...
I was surprised I made this far in the school year unscathed but alas...
This week, two girls came up to me and said, "Ms. Kutieboots, my throat hurts!" and "Duele mi garganta" (my non english speaker). I told them to drink water and everything should feel a little better. Then, a boy in my class brought a hacking cough to school and didn't know he's supposed to cover his mouth! I wore off on him, talking bout, "Hey!! Are you trying to get me sick?! I don't want to be sick! And I ESPECIALLY don't want whatever you have! You need to cover your mouth when you cough! We don't share germs in here!"
Upset! I get visibly irritated and disgusted at the sight of people not covering their mouths! That.is my pet peeve. That's the only thing I'm germaphobic about. Not big on hand sanitizer, don't wash my hands before every meal, have kids spit gum, pen caps, paper, erasers in my hands... whatever.
So I wake up Friday morning with a sore throat. Ahh, a little achy, I can make it thru the day. Get some hot tea in me and I'm out the door. The day and my throat get worse. 1130, I realize I'm not hungry and I can't even finish the orange juice I bought that monring. It took me forever to corral the kids off the playgroud 'cause I couldn't call them! I waved frantically till I got someone's atterntion and my Teacher Helper did the rest. By 1230, I'm laid out on the reading rug and the kids are doing whatever they want. Luckily, I have my kids so scared to get a color change, they self regulate their behavior. They are playing with the big playdoh (as opposed to the little playdoh they used for fun writing), they're on cartoon network on the computer (supposed to be PBS kids or something educational) the girls are writing on the board with my dry-erase markers... all the while I'm just buried in my sweatshirt on the floor.
"Ms. Kutieboots, can we play wi-"
"yes. I don't care"
"What abo-" "
Yes, knock yourself out"
"Juan Carlos is on-"
"Its Fun Friday, have fun"
Daah. I'm freezing even though I have on a camisole, fitted tee, college tee and a sweatshirt. My voice is totally gone and my temperaure is going up. Dismissal at 2pm took forever to come. It did, I signed out at 225 and was out. Got home, realized I don't like hot tea but was forced to drink it by mom. When she left the room, I dumped it down the bathroom sink. Since I "liked" it so much, she made more. I took two advils and a benadryl and tried to go to sleep. My body was asleep but my mind was wide awake. The 3 hour nap felt like I was just closing my eyes trying to fall asleep. When I did actually wake up, it was weird.
Fever gone, appetite back, I struggled to eat my weight in rice and corned beef stew. Did it twice. It hurt to swallow but the food was great. Dozed on and off for a couple of hours, drank some water, sent texts since I couldn't talk, watched TV and went to bed. Fever returned so I took some more advil but no ben. that ish is wack. I don't know how I fell asleep cause my throat was killing me and I was getting up to cough up ebola/mad cow... oh well.
Now this morning, I downed two mugs of hot chocolate and my throat feels better. Since my docs aren't in, I might stop by a clinic to get some antibiotics cause this bird flu is not getting it.

love languages
Toni had this book that captured my attention with its cover. I don't know about you, but I judge books by them. The title was simple: The Five Love Languages.
I read, studied, took notes, and heed.
1. Words of Affirmation.
Encouraging, kind, humble words. Love requests, love doesn't demand.
2. Quality Time
Undivided attention, genuine conversation of not just speaking, but hearing as well; togetherness
3. Receiving Gifts
Gifts and money or gift of self (physical presence)
4. Acts of Service
Doing things wouldn't neccesarily do as an act of love.
5. Physical Touch
Implicit or explicit
After reading about the different languages, I tried to figure out which one I "spoke". Not the touchy feely type, #5 was out. Born with so much swag, my hair got game, #1 was out... after further discussion and thru everyday conversation with Toni, we figured out that I am #3. I feel love thru gifts.
Few people know how horrible my holiday season was and after reading the book, it all made sense. I was DEVASTATED I got nothing for my anny or Christmas from Drew, brother, or sister. Like, "boo hoo crying, taking hella advil and benadryl to get rid of splitting headache and go to sleep" devastation. "Eyes still puffy the whole next day" devastation. All I wanted was a token of appreciation; it didn't have to be expensive or grand and no-one thought enough of me to get even, a card.
One year, my FAVORITE Christmas gift were colored bobby pins my sister got for me. I just cut all my hair off and she truly surprised me with something less than $2 from Claire's.
Last night, after watching back to back football games with Drew and his crew, I was headed to bed. When I got there, there was a pink hibiscus on my pillow. You would've thought I just hit the lottery. So geeked off of that little token of love. Didn't cost anything but meant so much to me.
Most guys think they are #5 Physical Touch but that might not be the case. True, men are more prone to be physical than emotional but don't be surprised to find the guy who just wants you to share the couch during the game, whether you're watching or not. Or the guy who LOVES how you picked up his dry cleaning for no reason. Or the guy who beams like a kinder when you tell him, "damn baby! You look so good!" You might be thinking, "who doesn't like all of these things?" but one is def dominant and make it your mission to figure out what language you and yours speak.
My mom is an Acts of Service person day in and day out. She holds grudges if you didn't do something for her and will sulk in misery cause you didn't volunteer to iron her dress. I am learning to do little things for her and we'll see how this year goes.
I get my confidence from my dad but I still think he's a Words of Affirmation guy. I'm sure in a household with 12 kids, praise didn't go around freely and I do see him glow when I compliment him on a wonderful wardrobe choice or cool music selection.
My brother. My fragile brother who has this demeanor of having his ish together and being self assured... def depends on what others say. If its negative, you can bet that pisces is headed downstream. If the words are encouraging, the request is humble, (now) he will go all out.
My sister, I have just figured out, is a Quality Time person. She wants you to be there. I think she's still hurt my mom didn't attend many of her softball games but come to find out, mom probably didn't go to the games b/c mini me didn't take out the trash before she left BECAUSE mom didn't pick her up from practice the night before BECAUSE... you see where I'm going with this.
Softball, cheerleading, stepshows, tryouts... we'll see what I can make this semester.
Now my Drewski speaks Physical Touch. It used to annoy the HELL out of me how touchy feely he was. Either I've gotten used to it or he's calmed down... nah, I've gotten used to it. I have to constantly be touching him or vice versa. Holding his hand, rubbing his belly or back, massaging his head, forehead kisses, hugs... he gets despondent if I push him to his side of the bed cause its too hot to be all up on me *shrug* what? I'm in Florida where its 76 degrees at night! But yeah, my Drew needs the PT.
Its really cool finding out what makes your loved ones feel really loved. You could be keeping the cleanest house for your man and he still spends his time somewhere else. You could be showering her with gifts and she's still not happy. Take the info I read and make your 2009 great!

may be the last
I'm ready for a new blog.
The person writing this blog now isn't the same person who started it. That's all good and stuff but I don't shop in the juniors section anymore and this blog feels like an xoxo outfit... mudd jeans, size 1 with the crazy flare.
My first post was "boughetto is..."
i was proud that i used to wear golds, even though they were caps and came off the minute I left a party.
i don't want a box chevy or a cut supreme anymore
i don't even wear acrylics anymore and if i did, the french manicure wouldn't be 2 inches of white
"my goal in life" was to be a socialite. 23 years old and all I could think of was having a drink named after me. i need something bigger and better. how bout a building at a college? a wing at a hospital? an elementary school?
I was "so cool" cause I was an oxymoron. A party animal-homebody, a smart blonde.
No, now I know who I am. First and foremost, I am a teacher. I use my profession to define me cause that's how strongly I feel about what I chose to do with my life. I teach therefore I love. or, I love therefore I teach. pick one.
Whatever the case, I'm not going to pick pieces out of some 600+ posts to highlight my change. I'm just going to applaud it.

oh nine
It's basically here.
i've made some resolutions about ownership in a previous post.
i just realized that needs to include myself.
oh nine. you better be as nice as 2008 which i must admit was GREAT.
Fine in 0-9. is that what the baptist churches are saying?
anyway, 2009 is going to have some changes. you have till the end of the school year to get your ish together cause ya girl is calling it.
i know i'm being extra clandestine right now but i'm not really ready to divulge about my disappointment and the somber realization i came to during church today.
t minus 2 days to A-T-L.
Joy, La? Jam and I are coming for you. You better drink water till we get there.

Christmas So Far...
Its been GRRRRRRREAT! Well besides the fact I got in at 430am and I'm already up... it was so worth it!
So the latter part of yesterday, the part that STILL had no sunshine, I was not the one. Ba.dee.tude. I decided to go to sleep.
I couldn't sleep in my room cause Big Mini Me (freshman 15 y'all) is here and was gabbin it up on the phone. My oh so comfortable mattress topper is on my bros bed but he's here for the month and if Mom Dukes (MD) caught me lying on her bed whilst she was "cleaning" (see: making a mess to clean up) that'll be drama into the new year.
I decide to get my sleep mask, something I RARELY use cause I fall asleep so easily ANYWHERE, and sleep in the sitting room. Got my Alumni Status blanket and hit the couch; GONE!
My thing was, there is no point in trudging thru housework today when we're probably going to have to do it tomorrow. I know how md operates, I'm hip to her game... plus a cranky Adei doing housework is the last person you'd want to be around. If you even THINK about looking at the floor I just swept and swiffered, you got another thing coming! And I don't care if you have to pee, hold it till my floor dries. Then you can walk across it.
SO! I GO TO SLEEP! IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THE "CLEANING" ACTION!
I wake, I clean, I shower, I go.
I'm in church and I start to feel better. I notice the new tapestries hanging and love them. I peep all the college students home for the holidays and wonder why the boys aren't my age. I sing Christmas hymns that I love more than carols. I hug my fly friend Dani of Dani Colored Glasses and her fly sis and their beaus. I offer the sis an xpress gift card for her red-headed boo but she says "sharing is not caring". Scrooge.
During communion, the church sings Silent Night. We turn off the lights and the ushers and acolytes light candlesticks that were given out as you walked into church. So beautiful. Not as beautiful as I remember in the past but still very nice.
So church is over and its now Christmas. What a nice way to bring in the day! Its the afterparty (is that appropro?) that had me coming in at 430am.
Its been the buzz that this restaurant/lounge is the place to be. Chat it up with a fellow parishoner and its official. I go home to change out the mary janes and sox and don a pink, black and white halter dress. Tre.cute. Although it was RAINING by the time church ended and my hair was a tad bit frizzed, I'm still fly with it. Drove, parked and walk to the spot and one of my fave homies is at the door. He says, "come child. Hold on to me." and we walk right in. Yes! No cover! Thanks Cover!
EV.REE.ONE.IS.HERE.
EVERYONE!
Yo, my crew is here of course but the dudes of the graduating class before us are in full effect! No, FULLLLLLLL EFFECT! Its always bomb when 99 dudes and 2000 chicks are around! And especially since a couple of them I haven't seen in YEARS are in the spot? Aww man, I was geeked.
What song comes on as I hug all my girls?
Get Me Bodied.
You know we cut up something serious! Then while he played a song that has a line dance to it, this dude interrupts my dance! He grabs my hand mid spin and just holds me there! I look at him like, "uh? Dancing here!" and he replies in my ear, "I just had to stop you so I can admire you."
Aww shucks. When you interrupt me for that, I can't get mad. And you're cute. But, I gotta man.
The music was banging and the DJ got into this mid 90s set and played guess?
Scrub the Ground.
Game.
Over.
Do you know what that song does to me? Well, DO YOU??
Jam does. She's Scrubbed the Ground. A party is officially hot if you play Scrub the Ground, there's no denying it! My girls and I are scrubbing the ground, killing it in stilletos and dresses. A dude grabs my hand during the "Round and round we go" part. Then the scrubbing starts and it helps that I have a tether. Thanks dude! No go away cause you're not cute.
So my song came on, cool. Then the reggae set had the 99 boys in the same frenzy the booty music has us girls. "Moah Fiyah!" and "bloodclot" had the most American of dudes reppin hard and singing every word. It was at that time I was glad Drew sent me hella mixtapes.
DJ got into a trini soca set that is ALWAYS high energy and he even bust into a haitian song that I actually like and reminds me of my graduation. Drew made a mixtape for the occasion and threw on some vintage zouk music. Again, much thanks to the Dreezyfbaby :-)
Man, the night is going by and its 3am already! Michael Jackson had me doing the City Boy Slide from Miami... Noo Edition had me Lauderdale Dropping...pulled out the Cabbage Patch during Chubb Rock, got our thug on during a khaled set that had teachers, financial analysts, med students, lawyers, and bankers GRINDIN. We are SO HOOOOOOD! Wait, take out the 'are'... WE SO HOOOOOD! That's better.
By the time 4am rolls around, its a wrap. I didn't even know we had a spot with south beach hours and I'm loving it! We all hug, I get numbers from homies whose numbers changed and find out the 99 crew will be in ATL for new years!!!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
"We pop champagne like we won the championship, mane"
And go ahead and throw that dirty J.Jones on too. I can't front, that song is hot. South Florida is about to do it big in the Peach State.
And that's my Christmas so far.

Come on Already!
I didn't want to be like this. I'm trying not to be a brat. Real talk, is it Christmas yet? I need tomorrow to be here yesterday...or at least today. So much work and money and time goes into this one day and I just want it over with already! Think about it, we've been bombarded/pressured to get into the holiday spirit since Thanksgiving! FOUR WEEKS of sleigh bells ringing in every commercial, song and show! Ugh!
I do attribute this dismal baditude to the "significance" of today. Today is 2 years with Drew.
I got a text.
Now I know he's not big on days for days sake. He doesn't even like celebrating his own birthday or any day the masses make a big deal out of. I understand that.
I *pointing to my eye* am not like that.
I celebrate half birthdays and my favorite food is cake. I love balloons, flowers, glitter and everything that comemmorates anything. As an advertiser's dream, I buy into EVERYTHING! If you tell me there's an Arbor Day celebration, I will be there with potted plant in hand! But then there's Drew. Last night, he told me, "its just a regular day. And actually, its not even the exact same day"
*face*
Last year was actually a bad anny for us. Drew had a badittude for some other reason and it naturally came out during our everyday conversation. Now I'm here sitting at home and almost pissed about it not being Christmas and listening to MD delegate chores to her 3 SKs.
You know what it is? And I noticed and hoped it would change but it didn't.
I'm okay with not having a white Christmas. Matter of fact, I don't want one cause snow is cold and I don't like that word or anything associated with it. Remember you're reading the chick who take juice out the fridge then pour herself a drink and hour later. Whatever the case, I will take a bright sunshining 78 degree Christmas any day and today is not that. Its been gray and dismal allllll day. It threatened to rain and drizzled for 5 minutes. Really? You gon be all nasty and Chicago-y for no reason? So I have a badittude cause the sun doesn't want to come out and its still not Christmas yet.
*Rant over*

a Christmastime Convo
For those of you who don't know, our very own blogger, Jameil, is an eggnog aficianado. She drinks it every day she can. For real. She loves Christmastime cause it justifies her need to guzzle down 'nog by the gallon. Anyway, in knowing that she's the resident genius in the 'nog, I asked a simple question.
Adei: what exactly is eggnog? Like, what's in it?
Jam: well first there's egg, then there's nog.
Adei (being nonethewiser): Right. But what's nog?
J: (silence)

I still don't know what nog is.

On My Heart
Its nothing serious, just questions/concepts that have been inside and need to come out.
Where can I get some of that Hollywood water? Can they bottle it and ship some to me? From Monique to Ricky Martin, JLo, Diddy, Brangelina, rebecca romaine stamos (she'll always be that name, sorry jerry) and now nariah... MULTIPLE BIRTHS! With the last couple supposedly having TRIPLETS!!
So first, it was having a cute dog. Then, it was adopting an african child and now, its having your own child but at least TWO of them. I would bet money that if Willada were to be preggers right now, it'll be twins, but naturally.
*
Next, men with hair.
Marcus Camby's caesar/brush cut of my highschool years cemented it for me. I just can't do hair!
One of my oldest and closest friends has a new boo. When Jam and I went to visit her one day, he was there. Jam and I walked around him, staring at his hair in amazement. Not that it was amazing, not that it was ginormous, no. Just a regular and, might I add, very annoying mid size afro.
WITH A RAT TAIL!
*cue keith olberman's Worst Person in the World music*
Jam and I sat on our macs and talked abt his hair on fb chat. We would burst into a fit of girly giggles every so often and then when RT finally left, friend said, "I heard y'all bitches! Y'all talking 'bout his hair, aren't you?! I KNOW! I know!"
I mean, we just wanted to know if she ran her fingers thru his hair, does she have him wrapped around her finger... by his rat tail, who oils whose scalp... you know, things that were on OUR hearts!
Just this morning, I felt the need to issue a royal decree to be proclaimed from the lowest swampland of Florida to the highest mountains of Alaska.
From this day forth, male subjects of thy nation shalt not have hair UNLESS it is neatly loc'd. Subjects with such unloc'd hair that is longer than a fair maiden's eyelash will suffer the consequence of being shorn by One Eye Levi, the Sheep Farmer. I hereby proclaim this as law on this day and retroactive the law eight years.
XXIIXXIIIMM
(8 years ago was when braids stopped being hot so, there really is no reason for you to have hair on your head, gents. You are not a basketball player and since you brought them up, while I was at HU, I did have a talk with iverson abt his hair, thanks.)
*
As some of you may or may not know, my mac and the PC at home are not working. Anything that I've done online has been done via sidekick. With that said, I haven't visited as many blogs as I used to and I can't comment as frequently as I want to. Sometimes, the word verification (captcha?) doesn't load so I can't post a comment. sometimes I post and it doesn't show... I just want you all to know that since you're reading this, you should know why it may seem like I have not been to your blog :-(

I have another December wedding to attend. I know. This for real, has to be a record.
Missed the one on the 20th cause Drew was perkin and I had to pull it out of him that he didn't feel up to it. This saturday, the drummer of the band is marrying his latest baby mama. Not sure if she the 2nd or 3rd one but, he's a drummer and he said he'll be coming down he aisle to percussion. Bump the processional on an organ, he wants someone banging on some bongos and congos for his wedding. Wifey tried to protest but Drummer put his foot down on that! I.cannot.WAIT! for this wedding.
*
Lastly,
*sigh*
My mom did it.
Yesterday, she asked me, "what's todays date?" I told her the 22nd and she replied, "so its 2 years for you and Andrew."
*face*
"Its actually the 24th mom"
"No, I know when I talked to him..."
*double face + side eye + scowl*
*
And that's how I'll leave you all this morning.

anxious
I keep waiting for my principal to ask me, "what's up ms. Kutieboots?" so I can tactfully, wear off in her ass; poke gangsta ass holes in her reasons for her tyrant-like decision.
I've been waking myself up at 330am b/c I'm arguing and crying in my dreams of telling her abt herself; going off in the hallways, hollering and getting physical cause she tries to placate me and that's not what needs to happen.
She passed by me as I was walking to make copies and said, "oh! I see you're not wearing pajamas today!"
A-kee-kee-kee.
Straight face for you.
I wrote a letter and sent it to the school board. I'm also putting one in her mailbox so she can know where I stand with her. No speculation, no assumptions that its going to blow over.
I hate that the fall semester ends like this. Yesterday was our last cooking day and the class just had to get all sentimental and say, "this is the best day ever!"
DAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! DON'T SAY THAT! YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME CRY IN FRONT OF YOU! GO AWAY, ALL OF YOU! NO! DON'T! DAAAAAAAH!!
It was at the end of our cookie making and party punch (orange sherbert, ginger ale, orange drink) that I let them have the bad news. It (of course) didn't go over so well.
and I hate that she told US to deliver the bad news! No! Man up and tell the kids yourself! You know what? I might just make copies of the memo and send them home with my club kids...
The 1st week of school, I knew I couldn't be there. It was just unfortunate that I couldn't up and move to texas as planned. Yeah, I kinda need to take a texas history certification exam and actually get hired by a city-district before I go anywhere over there... lol
*
On another note, my credit score went up 61 points. And I just paid off a lingering medical bill from 2006. So hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I can up the score a tiny bit more. Got that thing settled for 50% of the asking price. Now I have banc of amerikkka left ($1800+) but that will have to wait till the latter half of Jan 2009. Gotta stack some more cheese, ya dig? I dug DEEP into my pockets and I'm still recovering. Plus it being Christmastime doesn't help. Oh yeah, I'm going to the ATL for New Years. I need every last cent to live life (I'm so extra. I will probably buy a dress and ONE drink) and then I'll get back to reality come Jan 4.
The plan for 2009 is ownership. By May, I should be able to buy myself the car I want for my birthday. I'm looking at 4.
Acura TL or TSX,
Lexus IS,
Infiniti G35,
or a new Altima which completely decked out is still less the the base model of the 3 aforementioned...
Japanese, baby! Hopefully a loved one will get me the european cars that are what my dreams are made of :-) Cayenne anyone?
By December, if for some reason I am still here in south florida, I will go ahead and jump on this homeowner thing. The market is going to get worse before it gets better. There's a whole new wave of foreclosures coming up in the next 1-4 years due to two shady mortages options that have low beginning interest (1%) but have a reset button after 1, 2, or 5 years that catch people way off guard. The new interest rate is out of their league. I forgot the names of them but it just makes me wonder does anyone read anything? Did you not know the interest wasn't going to stay at 1% forever? And lending companies are who I blame the most. Straight greed. Granted, some of the blame does fall on people trying to live beyond their means; trying to live in million dollar or even half a million homes cause they bought it at pre-construction prices which was STILL too much for you...
Anyway, this can go on forever. I know what my resolutions are, what are yours? And don't say, "its to not make any resolutions"!

cancelled
The principal at our school put a memo in our boxes yesterday
"Starting january 2009, all after school clubs will be cancelled."
No,
"sorry for the inconveince"
or
"I regret to inform you that..."
just cold
"no more afterschool clubs"
Like fine arts (art, music, pe), afterschool clubs are a necessity for the human growth and development of a child. People are working hard to 'Save the Music y'all' and then here you go cancelling ish
I am so hurt right now.
I am so hurt cause I have a cooking club for 2-5 graders every thursday and they LOVE it! Of course every wednesday, I'm lamenting dealing with students who aren't my own and don't know the deal within my 4 walls but Thursday comes, and I love it. I love seeing the children divy up responsibilities, and reading the directions, and doing the math that comes with every recipe. You wouldn't believe how good some cheesy biscuits made by 7 y.o. can be! Oh yeah! We are doing some real cooking in there!!
Just two weeks ago, a second grader said, "I love cooking club. I wish we had it everyday!"
Running thru my head is, "no sir! I'd go crazy!" but I ask him, "why?" He simply said, "I don't like going home. My brothers and sisters bother me and its just fun to stay at school a little longer, plus we get to learn how to cook good stuff"
*heart breaking, tears threatening to spill again*
And he's just one student. He made me think of the children who are not shining stars in their classrooms but are sooooo proud of their product every thursday. He made me think of the girl who has 3 little brothers at home who now has time to talk freely to someone her own age cause we all know you can't talk during class... he made me think of the kids who were always asking for more cause there might not be food at home. If you knew my school's demographics, that's not a off the mark concept.
I can't believe she's pulling this on us. And reasons she gave were such bs... omg
I am just so sad right now. I'll holla.

Wasn't Ready
The other day, I call my mom to see if she wanted to go out to eat for dinner. She didn't pick up her cell so I ordered and brought it back to the house. She comes home and I tell her, "I called you to find out what I could order for you but you didn't answer"
MomDukes: why didn't you text me?
Me: (bewildered) what?? Why didn't I what?!
MD: (ever so nonchalantly) text. Why didn't you text me?
Me: (still so lost) cause... I... didn't know you... knew how to get and read texts! Don't you need your glasses or something to read? A bifocal?
MD: no. I lowered my minutes and got text, so during the week, text me.
Me: whoa. Okay... And who taught you how to text?!?!!
* * * * * * * * * *
Nevertheless, I call MD this morning. I guess she went for a walk or something cause when I woke up again, I saw I had a missed call and a text. Missed call from mom. Text from mom.
"What up call me"
*sigh*
text w/o punctuation. So cute.

Dear St. Nick *EDITED*
(I like him more than Santa)
There are tons of things I want. Since its your time to shine, I figured I'd shout you out real quick and you holla back at ya girl, nah mean? Check it.
SATC, The Complete Series.
I want the entire collection, in the metal pink box and throw in a pink boa just cause I think it should come with one. Oh yeah, the movie wouldn't hurt, either
While talking box sets, I would really like Gossip Girl and showtyme's Dexter. OMG, those two shows are the cat's meow to me!
Joocie Kouture
my infatuation with them began with the underwear Drew got me a couple of years ago. That number has since grown and I must admit, they make the BEST underwear!!! OMG, so comfy! and they fit just right! and they make big booties look right, OW! (juicy, duh!!) the cotton joints are bomb, the lace ones are bomb... I've moved up to their t-shirts and they are cool too. They feel like a "favorite" tee the first time you put them on; worn without that distressed look. As a fanatic for all things comfy (see: sweatsuit), I know I will break down and get a track suit from out of there one day *smh*
from someone else cause I damn sure ain't paying that money for some velour!
But it is cute, isn't it? and its my favorite color!? OMG, they have this nightie that is too great and has my name written all over it: Queen of Sleep. I need it!
damn, now i'm stuck at their website looking at all the things I want and thinking of how to how to tactfully ask for them...
TIME ELAPSED: 12min
An ish load of books. And I don't want a narnes and boble gift card cause I'll end up spending it on my students!!
kiss of the spider woman
death of a salesman
song of solomon (i can't find my copy)
thousand cranes
the scarlett letter
equus (yech)
the stranger
clan of the cave bear
the metamorphosis
a midsummer's night dream
medea
the oddysey
dante's inferno (or the whole series [paradiso and purgatorio])
A Separate Peace
Hamlet
Macbeth
1984
Christ Stopped at Eboli
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
Light in August
Farenheit 451
and any piece by Gabe Garcia Marq. Check with me first cause I have a lot of them.
A year subscription to either or all of the following magazines:
GQ
Vanity Fair
InStyle
Essence.
I've been disappointed with the last two lately; seems like the same thing over and over again but...I got some AWESOME tips from the last ones I read so, we'll give it a year.
A Tiffany-style SOMETHING!
It can be a lamp, paper weight, door decoration, anything! I think those things are the coolest thing next to stained glass windows at a church.
Gift Card to Express
self explanatory. they have dresses i want but refuse to buy
a black coat/jacket that's not a pea coat!
Its a bit contradictory, but I want a spring jacket that's not yellow, green, blue/green blossomy, pink, peach, red or red rosettes. a spring jacket that's black is still on my list.
Jewelry never hurt anybody ;-)
I'm really digging estate pieces (movement, lightness) and Edwardian (lace like detail) necklaces, bangles, cuffs and rings! The filigree... the ornateness... THE COST!
some new music.
i'm tired of my itunes list. i neeeeeeeeeed more music!!
A puppy.
A beagle puppy. I was watching dogs 101 on aminal planet and was hooked! Can we make it so it doesn't age?
Ok, I'll stop here. I can see this list is getting to be ridiculous.

I know it's Him
So ever since the message to give more hit me square in the head/heart two days in a row; days when I was wondering about my talent, time, and treasure, I have been doing just that. So freely at times, I wondered why, Adei? What about you? Then the WWJD popped in my head/heart and you know the rest.
Reached into a jacket pocket this morning and pulled out a $50. If anyone knows anything abt me, u know I don't do cash, never have cash, beat myself up at times cause I NEED cash only. The few times I do have cash on me, it damn sure isn't a fifty dollar bill! Even if for some reason I had that money on me years ago (cause I haven't seen that jacket in YEARS) I just like to think I'm getting 20 fold what I've been giving.

my bad, y'all
I know how annoyed I get when I go to someone's blog and the first thing you see the title of the post you read last week...
Nothing special has happened since I last posted. My 5 day weekend was anything but restful. Oddly split between here and Hollywood b/c family and friends were coming and leaving on different days.
Thursday- i cooked the entire meal. turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, squash, stuffing, mac & cheese, gravy from scratch. what made me mad was that i had to set the table as well! a little help here!?!?
Mini Me left friday. went shopping in my closet
*face*
monkey trick
pops left saturday and that was a hassle. he was supposed to leave from PBI but the luggage situation was some fcukery so serious, we drove all the way to ft. laud airport for a flight that was leaving 2 hours later. Mind you, I just left there that morning to see my dad off. Now i'm driving back AND coming back to west palm!
a family friend came down late saturday night for a wedding on sunday. she was supposed to come much earlier in the day and I was basically sitting up in my room waiting for her. booooooo, total waste of a day. At the last minute, I went to the mall with kitty to get a dress for the wedding we're attending THIS weekend! Tried it on and it is sooooooooo my dress for the season!! I LOVE IT!!!
Sunday, we went to church, the mall to find Bro some shoes to wear with his suit and get the wedding present for the afternoon event.
i swear I have the record for attending the most weddings in one calendar year! I will refresh your memory PLUS add TWO more weddings (indicated by a *) that have come into the radar!! AAAAAAAHHH!!
Oct- Mike in JAX
Nov- Lars in WPB
Dec- Fave Ex in Daytona
Jan- Bran 1 in JAX
Feb- Drea in WPB
Mar- a break (so far)
Apr- Dub in JAX or Daytona
May- Bran 2 in GA
Jun/Jul- Kim in WPB* (not sure which month)
Aug- Nee in ATL*
Sept- a break (so far)
Oct- PJ in Riviera Beach
Are we really only going to have a 2 month reprieve? I just can't believe it! BB&Beyond is going to have my card on file! Its no wonder they are still in business, they have wedding registries on LOCK!
So while on the subject of weddings, my bro was ring shopping when we went to the mall on sunday. I think Kita (fam friend) and I hurt his feelings in regards to the ring he was looking at for his girl. The thing was too big!!! and he was so confused cause he thought all chicks want the biggest iciest ring but that ish was...
the terms Kita and I used were,
"ghetto",
"flashy",
"gaudy",
"new money"
and my fave,
"hood rich"
The thing is, it was a whole bunch of stones as opposed to one big stone or even 3 nice sized stones. He saw 3.25 carats, we saw a lot of .125 and .25 carats put together. and there is nothing wrong with TDW being split up, it actually cuts down on the cost of the ring, but not when its put together the way that ring was.
yeah.
Anyway, I chatting abt it with one of my oldest friends, when she said ,
"ginormous hood rich ring = wedding with 8 flower girls, 16 jr. brides, and 23 bridesmaids"
I bout died right there!!
jameil, I think we need to do a record dish post on weddings since its obviously the season (Oct 08-Oct 09). I will type out the 3 big no-nos and we will expound sometime in the future.
1. white tuxes
2. extraneous positions
3. singing down the aisle
TTYL!

the message
I got my hair done last saturday and was slightly annoyed for most of the time there. Now my hair came out amazing but my hair dresser and one of her collegues AND that dresser's patron were talking so much about how much they give. and it almost became a contest about who is the most giving. Scripture was exchanged, each lady was one upping the other,
"My sister and I are cooking for people at church who do not have families. you know the holiday season is when the suicide rates rise..."
"Yeah? I make sure I send money to ALL my relatives and then I put what little is left in my bank account for my family"
"I am going to the hospital to visit before and after work..."
"I give to every charity..."
"I'm going to heaven and you're not..."
I'm kidding about the last one but I was waiting for that to pop out of someone's mouth. Now I am ALLLLLLLLL about helping those less fortunate but I kinda think it defeats the purpose when you are trumpeting to the world how much of a "gracious" giver you are. Its not really gracious when you are tooting the hell out your own horn (and I know a thing or two about tooting my own horn).
I think I did get a message out of them though. The patron said something about not knowing when you might be helping Jesus out, "the least of these..." or something like that. It made me think of those bracelets that were the rage and lost the original point of the question: "WWJD?" Whatever the case, the next day in church, the Gospel of the Lord according to Matthew brought me to tears.
May the Lord be with you this holiday season.
Addendum
Starbux is giving $0.05 from every hand crafted drink they sell on Dec 1 to an African AIDS fund... I don't know if I should be upset about that. On one hand, what's 5 cents when you're barstucks? can we at least get a dime out of you? but on the other hand, if they sell 50 million drinks across the nation, that's $2.5 mil to G. Fund/AIDS in Africa. How much am I donating to the fund? How much are you donating?
And this is where I am today.

a much better tally
Yay! it wasn't even homecoming and I had a MUCH better time!!! Woo, hoo!
Friday
I plan on leaving immediately after school. The turnpike is all of 1.5 miles away from work and it will be nothing to just hop on and GO.
Aww damn, forgot my camera at home. There canNOT be a StaceJam event withOUT a camera!! I drive way east to go get the thing and who do I meet at the door?
Mom Dukes a.k.a GG (Ghanian Goblin)
she wants me to fill out an application. a looooooooooooooooooooong application. an app that come to find out, requires an actual interviewer who I think may need to be a notary or something official... yeah...
So now my plan to leave at 230pm 3pm 330pm 4pm has been pushed back tremendously. and I didn't want to leave during rush hour on a friday so I waited and waited till I just said, "freak it." I should've remembered that I do NOT like to drive at night and should've trucked thru the traffic. I ended up leaving at 530pm. boooooooooooooo...
Dear Daylight Savings,
I hate you.
Sincerely,
Adei
i FINALLY get to Jam's crib and was accosted by a frog that was probably half the size of my thumb but real talk, looked really really mean. I moved out of HIS way cause I PROMISE you, he ice grilled me. Now that i think about it, it was probably a girl. Hater ass hoe.
Jam and I hang for like 20 minutes and decide to go eat. Our usual spot had a 2 hour wait so we walked to another sushi restaurant that was cool. Aside from the waitress who kept on spilling things, the tepid miso soup, the nasty absinthe, and the extremely loud neighboring conversations, it was a decent. It'll do. When we finished, Jam got the page on her phone that our table at 'Fly was ready!! LOL
I really have no idea what we did after that. I think I went to sleep. I'd been up since 530am and it was around midnight.
Saturday
Jam gets an oil change as we peruse Garden and Gun magazine, a magazine of the south and then even more important, the latest In+Style. I just want to know how does Bey manage to get on the cover of EVERYTHING?! When her album is about to come out, that hoe is EVERYWHERE! AT THE SAME TIME! SNL, TRL, EMA, VMA, ETC!!!! That's that Obama hustle! Actually, he got it from HER. It is definately B Season!
we ride to Tally and get to Kitty's house!!! YAY!!! Its Labor Day 2007 Part 2!!
or not. we are so not in South Florida cause it is colder than a b!tc#! (and a b!tc# be cold)
The game starts at 3 so Jam and I decied to go to the mall to meet up with her cousin and buy a sweater. yeah, on the way there, we find out the game was changed to 1pm. It was 120. Jam turns the car around and we finally make it to the game where FAM beat up on HU. I didn't recognize that HU on the field. NO receptions or completions, no O-Line, nothing *smh*. We leave before the game is over and mosey on over to the HU side.
tumbleweeds.
Jam attempts to speak to some HU folk and they look at her sideways. Eww! Keep that! I know you see the sweatshirt AND the tee! Why else would she be wearing that!? Yeah, they might have been mad that their team was losing... we'll go with that.
As we make our way back to Kitty's we peep an older man in a black brocade(?) suit with red shirt and pocketsquare. He looked like flavorflave. ole dark skin, crispy yet greasy looking lil nasty. here's the kicker
he had a fingerwave with the bump.
HIS WHOLE HEAD WAS FINGERWAVED
and
THE BACK WAS DOWN AND CURLED UNDER
i'ma let y'all marinate on that one.

In one, I see my begining, my first time away from home, my first time with people like me, my first friends who I DIDN'T know since forever, my first time listening to Mos and Ghost
yet, the other was more my home, easier to just be, closer (in proximity) to family, more "real" (not everybody is born with a silver spoon in their mouth, or even a silver plated one for the 'fake it till you make it' folk)...

it was 20 questions VIBE Mag style. while in tally for homecoming, i HAD to get the issue with our latest president on it!!! obama obama obama obama oba-oba-obama (i know you've heard the fellow hamptonian's version of 'a milli' by now... if not, look up apt on youtube and have a blast!) anyhoo, I realized I haven't read a magazine in a while and decided to do a 20 questions post
20. why did i let a home girl of mine talk me into get my legs waxed?
19. do you think it hurt?
(HELL YEAH!)
18. was it worth it?

Question of the Day
I am SERIOUSLY sitting here wondering if I can be friends with people who vote for McCain...
a HU homie of mine has been blasting his love for the McCan't-Plain ticket and I thought he was joking or being facetious. But it kept on going and going and going...
today on bacefook, his picture is of his ballot with a plain as day mark for Mc & P!
HE WAS DEAD ASS SERIOUS!!
It just makes me wonder what does he see in them? I know he's not a military man or someone over 65 or a large corporation who would "benefit" from the Mc-P administration...
he is a young man trying to become this great director. he's "directing" his first movie in 2008 but that got changed to "tv show".
I guess the movie didn't work out.
he is a middle school health teacher and I know for a fact that the Nat'l Ed Assoc, and the American Fed of Teachers; the two largest teacher orgs have publicly endorsed Rocky. not saying, "well if they did it, then I should too" but...
I'm not sure if his parents went to school here the way my dad did but I know he is Nigerian, 1st generation. Immigrants for education or just a better way of life?
I just don't get what a young black, first generation, college educated, teacher by day, "budding" artist by night, civilian man would see in anyone besides Barack. In Barack, we see ourselves. How can you not want the best for yourself?

THURSDAY
I get off of work around 4pm. I'm thinking, "I've packed my bags so we can get on the road asap"
nope. Bro doesn't get to the house till 530 and after all the talking and reassuring (pops is such a worrier although he tries to be the cool one) we FINALLY leaving around 6pm.
*face*
We get to tally around midnight as expected b/c of the time we left, chat it up with Kitty and I hit the sack. Bro drives the car to his fiance's house which is out in the northern part of bumbafcuk, just past 'the hell we at?' population 215.
FRIDAY
I'm soooooooo looking forward to homecoming convocation!! we get up, bro comes over for breakfast, and we're off. I'm looking cute in a cream boat neck top with dark denim bottoms tucked into some flat brown boots. luckily, kitty lives in the neighborhood by school so walking to the gym where convocation is is no problem. we're walking on campus and thinking, "its awfully quiet for homecoming friday... maybe EVERYBODY is in the gym"
yeah, no. the gym is DECKED OUT for the president's inaguration reception following convo. we ask someone in the gym, "where is convocation at?" he tells us, "Lee Hall" (the eqiv of ogden for my REAL HU people). Ok, no worries. another walk across campus and up some stairs and down some hills... we've done this before...
about that Lee Hall?
yeah, no. Doors locked, parking lot empty, tumbleweeds rolling...
*face*
We ask ANOTHER person, "where is convocation this year?" and she tells us, "its streaming live from the Civic Center" (see: colliseum)
Kitty & I did one of those quick, "civic cen-? oh hell naw" That means cars and parking and traffic??... hell naw on that one. we walk back to her house and watch harlem nights. fall asleep on the couch and wait for another friend of ours to come in from daytona.
Trissy comes in, we wake up and go to Yardfest. The dope boy music is in full effect. Not really my scene cause its a whole bunch of baby goons and I'm actually looking for alumni I haven't seen since graduation.
I saw 1. and he's not even my favorite person.
I did see my ZPhi friends of mine but again, they weren't the ones I was coolest with. I asked about their LS friends of mine and none of them made it.
*face*
I didn't see ANY of my favorite people :-( But while on the subject of goons, I saw my sister!! YAY! She was showing too much skin under the pretense of it being "hot" and it took me back to those HU days when we'd have a 73 degree reprieve and I'd bust out the shorts and if it was HOT! Oh, south florida girls slay me. we took a pic
and I kept it moving.
Tris and Kitty had to do some stuff in the bandroom and we went over there, caught up with some drum major homies and then walked back to the practice field where the hundred was playing.
hung out there for a while and went back to kitty's. her family was coming in from west palm and we wanted to be home.
they get here, we catch up, we eat hamburgers cause her pops brought his giant grill and before you know it, its time for night practice. that's when EVERYBODY comes to the field and watches what's going to happen the next day.
Old heads take an instrument from a freshman and show them how to play stand music, sectionals take place, pics are snapped...
its over and we're back at kitty's; calling people up to see what they are getting into. afterall, its halloween and we know there must be SOMETHING going on!
or not.
i'm in bed by 11. on halloween, homecoming friday.
*face*
SATURDAY
Its game day! But before that, one of my fave fierce guy friends (read how you want to) is having a brunch and the mimosas are flowing. If you remember, Bro drove the car to the other side of east madagascar (affectionately known as 'the country'). I have NO way of getting there. I text my sadness and we plan on getting together after the game. After that, Kitty, fam and I start to get ready for the game. I'm crunk cause i'm wearing a long sleeve black tee with my fave jeans, patent leather mary jane flats and a green scarf in my hair. my spring jacket is the prettiest shade of peach so i feel school spirited without compromising style. i mean, a hanes tee shirt is only so fly (sarcasm). i cop these gangsta mirror aviators from a vendor and i'm done!
we're about to walk in when they tell us that students need to go to a gate opposite of where we are... *eye roll* fine. it just so happens that as we're walking, i see my fave professor!!! OMG!!! I start screeeeeeeeeeeeaming cause I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE her!!!!! hugs and kisses and pictures and talking about campaigning and on and on... then I realize kitty is standing there and we have to get going!! the best seats (by the band) will be taken by the time I finish chatting it up! we go, I use mini me's ID and its all good.
We find some good seats close to the section the band is sitting in. Then I see the cheerleaders and go down to get pics of MM. Snap, snap. and I come back to my seat. The crowd goes, "ooooh! someone fell!" Kitty says, "i think SK3 fell" and my heart drops.
"no, that wasn't.... where is she?"
I see the coach and asst, and captains surrounding someone on the ground and I'm looking for my big head sister and her barbie weave... I don't see her! "Ok, where is she? Lord, please don't let that be her!" Kitty says, "Stace, whoever she is isn't getting up and I don't see Steph" I run back down the stands and look. Its my little sister. I toss my camera and shades into someone's hands and hop the bar. I'm kneeling by my crying sister who is complaining about her neck and I ask, "what happened?" the coach says, "she was in a stunt and she fell. she landed on her neck and shoulder"
OMG, please no! I'm shaking and asking MM if she can move anything but the paramedics are strapping her neck and body to a board. she's taken off the field before the pregame show even begins.
we're at the actual ambulance now when Bro joins us on the verge of tears. he wants to know what happened and who her base was; who dropped his baby sister. i know from phone calls every week that her base was the mediocre group.
MM doesn't want to go to the hospital but her neck and back are hurting and we want her to get an x-ray. They take her and she needs a CT scan as well. As you can imagine, the ER on homecoming weekend was NOT the place to be. hella drunks. people all in the hallway on the verge of alc. poisoning.
it takes FOR.EV.ER.
We spent the whole day there.
She has a neck sprain and gets prescribed some rx strength ibuprofen.
The only games we watched was what was on TV.
PWI schools at that.
*face*
Now of course, the game is over so EVERYBODY is on the road. traffic is a BITCH cause like I mentioned earlier, Kitty lives walking distance to campus.
*face*
I was tired from being at the ER all day. I call people to find out what's going on and whatnot, people are paying upwards of $75 to get into the club. yeah no. any other weekend that place is $free.99 so you know I wasn't trying to see that.
I kinda wish I did. It would've been better than what I did...
NOTHING.
Saturday night, I did nothing. Wait, I'm lying.
I ate. I wrapped my hair. I went to bed. 1037pm.
SUNDAY
We go to the vendors and I cop some BOMB obama shirts!! then it's time for church, I go and come back, pack, grab Bro from a homie and we're out.
That was my weekend.
to add insult, FAMU lost.

the Hill
it's that time of year...
the time when you get your fits and kicks ready
eyebrows, "feets", and hair done
chatting it up with people you haven't spoken to since graduation
IT'S HOMMMMMMMMECOMINNNNNNNNN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and I am going :-)
My bro and I are leaving for that beloved school on the highest of seven hills tomorrow afternoon and I couldn't be more excited! I've packed my beloved jackets and boots, stilletos and flats, two outfits/pairs of shoes for every day there... oh my gosh! I can't wait to go back to my FAVORITE church in the whole wide world!! I can't wait!
I just hope no foolishness goes down. It is an HBCU and there's bound to be some niggadness in ABUNDANCE... *eye roll* My people, my people.
I'm looking for a house party to attend... not trying to do the hot ass club scene, more like the alumni gathering where you don't even have to write, "for the grown and sexy" cause that is sooooooooo 2005
or '04?
WAIT! '03!! Excuse Miss!
I can't wait to go to the football game!!! and hear all those songs I've haven't heard since Fall 2006!!! Shout at the drum majors "SAY LA LA!!" "BOB MARLEY!!!" "S.O.S!!"
*content sigh*
Holla at you later!!!

I was just thinking...
So I'm on bacefook, right? I send a message to a now married frat homie of mine and I start thinking about his frat bro. Now this frat is my favorite of the fab four; I have a genuine appreciation for a large majority of the men in this organization. it stemmed from images i have of mommy and daddy getting dressed up to go to their ball every winter. I used to get so excited as mommy pulled out her one of a kind african outfit that was so regal, and as daddy was donning the wingtips, something he never does. his work means scrubs and nikes, his play means cargos and nikes or anything that looks like a roadie for a hip hop group, let my mom tell it ("you look like the person who follows rappers around. go change" von K, L. 2008)
whoa. i need to digress something serious.
so yeah, i'm thinking about the last time i saw frat cutie who i (duh) had a little crush on. He was always "all the way live" even though he wasn't #5, he was well spoken, intelligent, fun, gregarious, beautiful dark skin, fresh haircut always, nice smile, well dressed, etc, etc. everything any chick would want except one thing: he could've been the ace on a sorority line cause buddy was all of 5'1". we saw eye-to-eye, literally. So because of that, chicks didn't pay him any attention, well until he crossed, of course.
we'd been cool since i transferred to FAM and before he went greek. fast forward to when i won tix to see the wailers at a local dive. he was there with an LB and we hung out, talked about music and the like. show over, no exchange of numbers and i figured HE THOUGHT if he didn't get the number before he was greek, he doesn't want it now. no worries.
i'd see KC at ALL the shows i went to. ATCQ, little brother/justus league, talib, even the homecoming hood joints with jeezy and p-tain before he blew up. the last time i saw him, we were at the last Roots show I enjoyed. My whole concert crew was there + some of my hip hop homies from school. everyone road-tripped from their various locations to catch this jean, talib, comm, roots show. picking my tix up from the booth, i see KC. The usual, "Hey!! What's up homie?! I knew I'd see you here" and on and on. we hug, he daps everyone up and introduces us to his longtime girlfriend.
I would bet money her name is Becky.
When you hear the name Becky, gon' 'head and conjure up something in your imagination...
is she white?
yes
is she plain as day?
yes
mousy brown hair parted down the middle?
yes
taller than him?
duh
So THAT'S why we never exchanged numbers!! is the first thing that came to my mind!! Then I looked and I pray to God I didn't make a face as I looked at what this fine specimen of black man calls his girl. Really? Becky? You go with a BECKY??????? I was so stunned.
Needless to say, all that got me thinking about how people react when I introduce Drew. Luckily, most of my friends from high school obviously know him already but I'm now thinking of what was going thru peoples' heads at my graduation and the times Drew came up to visit before we were even together. Did they think he was just light skinned? How could African ass, VP emeritus of NationalCouncilNegroWomen, would've been a black "big cat" back in the day, dead prez blastin before they were big (used loosely), brown skin lady, proponent of black love/family, Adei be with "the man"?
We're going to go with they think he's light skinned. the philly beard and shaved head don't scream "white guy", do they?
