drew has been wanting to get me a ruby ring. his ole sentimental behind wants me to have his birthstone. we've seen a couple of rings that we both liked in the department store... the price tag, not so much.

this one is to tide us over. 14K white gold, 6 diamonds (.3 TDW), .75 ruby

i have no qualms with whatever precious stone anyone wants to give me :-)

Per FAMU... but I'm sure, per Mini Me as well, housing wasn't straightened out. As of last convo with BDK (Big Daddy Kutieboots), they (including MM) are in a hotel. Yeah... see, two nights ago, Pops and I asked MM what the deal is with her dorm; has she recieved her housing letter yet. She answered too quickly so I re-rephrased the question. "MM, did you get your housing letter in the mail?" the reply was so defensive, I already knew what was up. "Noooo! I talked to someone on the phone!"

I'm here watching the dogs. I decide to be nice and take them for a walk.

If you know anything about me, I barely walk to the bathroom. I'd rather wait till its unbearable, and then trudge to the bathroom.

My mom can't walk them too often cause Russell almost pulled her arm out of its socket chasing a squirrel, real talk.

And Russ dragged the ish out of my dad over some ducks around the way. So, walking around the neighborhood is something out of the ordinary for them and me.

1st- they are walking me. I don't know why I thought to do both at the same time. yes I do. Too lazy to make another trip for another dog. Plus whoever was left in the house would have a nervous breakdown.

2nd- they are peeing everywhere. come on! can we walk!? do we have to stop at every bush?!

3rd- the creatures crossed leashes right as there was a crack in the sidewalk. Between the tangle of leashes and faulty sidewalk, I trip and bust my ass. Well actually, my knee. I have a skinned knee!! What do I look like at 26 years old with a skinned knee!?!?! Not only my knee, but my big toe got scratched the fcuk up from the uplifted pavement and my big toe's knuckle took the fall pretty hard AAAAAAAAAAND, I broke my right hand's thumb nail. AAAAAAAAAAAAAND, I'm sure someone saw me!! The only good thing was, as I was falling and let go of the leashes to catch myself (which I didn't do, hence the knee), the dogs didn't run away as they are prone to do. They showed concern for their hurting owner *cue the "awwwwwwww"s*

I limped home to a house with no triple antibiotic :-(

I hate shopping for them. although I love shopping in itself, the pressure of finding something perfect by a certain time gets on my nerves. I don't like doing ANYTHING on someone else's time. Why do you think I skipped so much class? if I didn't want to do chemistry right after lunch, they I won't be doing chemistry right after lunch!

So there's my mom whose b-day was yesterday. She is one of those people who always got something to say, therefore, being a pain to shop for. The gift card is a beautiful thing but I HATE BUYING THEM!!! to me, they say, "i didn't feel like buying something personal, you know, to show that I care. Knock yourself out when you get a chance"

On a "brighter" note, I went to see my oral surgeons today. See about that tooth that won't erupt... braces or an implant?? I'm going to go with the braces. but, a "chain" will be needed to bring that bad boy down.

So I had braces sophomore year in highschool and senior year, got 5 teeth extracted with the hopes that the bitches underneath would come up on their own since they were impacted... no such luck. Now before my jaw starts to sink and I need dentures, might as well fix that up. plus


I got my own insurance!!!

I want to use my HMO so bad!! I LOOOOOOOOOOVE having insurance!!! I stay ready to use that card! Gone head and give that good sedation... hmmmmm, drugs.

i digress.

Woo Hoo!!! Jamie is going to be in Florida!! That is like, waaaaaaaaaay closer than Pennsylvania!!!

Sunday Dinners

So on Sunday, we decided that someone would host a game night. that person hosts an evening of fun, food, and laughter!

We road tripped to clewiston this past sunday. its right on Lake Okeechobee; about an hour west of us.

Kindergarten Couture

twas the last day of school.

ya girl was DEAD tired from the week. That sunday, she was up all hours playing cards and hadn't fully re-couped yet. the rest of the week was spent trying to keep 16-19 six-year-old busy from 8am-2pm. but friday came and I successfully conquered my first year of teaching!!

but first, we were looking thru our memory books right?

My hair is better than yours

Yeah, its that time. I got a relaxer yesterday so you know the ego has landed. I was at the hair dresser looking around and thinking,

"awww, your hair is longer but mine looks better."

and

"awww, you have to dye your hair to get it my color"

and

"naw boo, its too late to request flips cause you saw me getting some"


but. before my conceitedness grew to levels unseen, it was turmoil.



I had long micros. Granted most of it was a sew in, but the top fourth of my head had actual braids that were a bitch to take out. I had Drew cut the string and take the tracks out and then take the cornrows out. He was able to do all that before I was done with my million braids. Can we talk about ego? His grew with every track he removed. His homie Ralph called and he answered, "Dreezy's House of Beauty" and was having full out convo about how he can make Ralph look like Rick Fox WHILE doing my hair!!! Phone was all perched in between his shoulder and ear... show-off. he said, "ooops." and I jumped. Turns out the call dropped. I'm trying to grow my hair out and the last thing I want to hear is "ooops" while you have scissors in your hands.

Yo, I got my last relaxer 3/22/08. 11 weeks. I love this new method. I usually have to relax every 5 weeks, but if I throw some braids in it, I'm good for double that time. Next time, i won't get the micro/sew-in. It took 4 hours to take out. And that's with two people working.

Okay, I'm going to the beach! And you know NOT to get in the water!

my roomie had her 26th b-day party at the beach and it was a beautiful day! but let me outline the weekend.

friday- work as usual, then we went out to eat and saw SATC. LOVED IT!! Cried and laughed so hard i cried! just didn't like j-huds wack-ass role. her agent is gangsta.

aferwards, we came back here and hung out.

saturday- we woke up somewhat early for people who don't have to go to work (8am). hit up the dollar store, green markets, supermarkets, the mall, etc for everything we needed. plates, chicken, black swimsuit and see thru tunic for me, white sandals and shorts for kitty, liq, soda, etc. came home and took a nap. woke up to get what we could find or didn't want to wait in line for. then it was time to prep the food. homies stopped by to play cards, drink, and watch the wack fight (kim slice). that was a travesty to MMA. kim is a street brawler and that's it. no technique, just brute strength. my bro and i used to watch ult fighting back in the day so i know a little something something and i was disappointed with eveything except the chick fight. those were the real fighters!!

Drew came by cause he brought speakers and an amp for the party!! YAY! on a less enthused note, y'all know that boy is a night owl. i got not a lick of sleep. he was hot, he was thirsty, he was itchy, he was petulant. can i tell you that he threw an actual hissy fit? kicked his overgrown 2 y.o. foot out and all. two.years.old. i tried to rub his back to go to sleep and when i stopped cause i was fading to black, he whined! i actually asked, "do you want to go for a car ride?" as if i had a car seat to put his ass in... i just know car rides put babies to sleep so that's what came to mind!! oh my goodness!! i was so glad it was saturday and i had no-where serious to be the next day.

sunday- people are all over the place, i go to publix for some groceries. bring it back and cook veggie sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and whole wheat toast. yum-o! by the time that was done, this week with g. steph was on and then it was time to go. nair-ed the appropriate places, showered and was out!

friday night. drew had show in hollywood beach. a tedturner-like person of haiti wanted the band to play at his b-day bash on the beach. it was at a tapas restaurant and ask me if i made it there?

NO!!

I was dead tired in westpalmbeach!!! so pissed cause i ALWAYS miss the good, ritzy shows and make it to the hot raggedy shows!!! case in point, saturday's event.

h.o.w.. haitian org of women was having a banquet?? no, not a banq cause there WAS NO FOOD... *side eye, digression*

in homestead, florida. homestead is about 1.5 hours southwest of miami. if you're thinking mexicans, rednecks, and ten gallon hats, you're right on the money. not that anything is wrong with an agricultural town... it just seemed... anachronistic. yeah. we'll go with that.

do you know how hungry i was, in the middle of nowhere? i would've torn up some griol and rice, i was so hungry. and i had to watch Mani, the 3 y.o boy who belongs to the female singer. hard.headed aries.

oh. they only got a chance to play 4 songs. and they played them super fast b/c the drummer who is a gigger (as opposed to an actual member of the band), had another show and he had to leave by 830. the band was supposed to play at 645...
ended up being 815...

on a brighter note, sunday was spent at the park with lena and her son. drew thought he was going to the beach but forgot he lives in south florida on a perfect memorial day weekend. no parking for you, join us at the park. it was nice watching kids play and parents lounge. i did fall off the merry-go-round... twice. drew was pushing mani and he fell off. lena and i told him he was pushing too fast but drew didn't think so. i got on to see...

Monday was the best. i finish all of drew's dishes (3 day process. soak them bad boys... in chlorox if he had some) and we watch the last episode of dexter. that show is AWESOME!! and totally plausible!! then we're pretty much chillin, went to target, went to lena's went out to eat at this ital. rest nearby... we're watching jeop.rdy when his landlady texts him to come over.

drew is now a daddy!!!

he has a two month old kitten that jane found hanging around her store since friday!! she gave the kitten her lunch of white albacore tuna and snatched her up. seeing how she was 5 cats (emma, mogwai, dude, dipshit, lea) takes care of two strays (groucho and broke-ass kitty [her tail doesn't work]), it was only right for the ONLY person who doesn't have a cat at their place to adopt her! enter, drew.

he hasn't come p with a name yet. she is soooooooooooo little and cute! varying shades of gray in faint stripes all over, but her belly is spotted!!

The Weekend Wrap Up

let me break it down for you.

Friday. leave school and come back around 545 for Family Fun Night. Tons of indoor activities and food. I was the sole cashier for food where the most expensive item was $1.00. I don't want to count money anymore!!
leave there around 9pm. Go home to defrost from hotdogs, popcorn and limbo; call drew and tell him i'm tired. he says i don't have to drive down tonight but the tone in his voice said otherwise. that's when i changed my spacebook status to 'love = sacrifice'. i crawled out of bed, packed a bag and drove to hollywood. mind you, i've been up since 630am and its now 11pm. lane closures on I-95. gotta love that ish. i make it there and hit the bed. oh but wait, there are no sheets on the bed! DAMNIT DREW! Fcuk that shit, I used the comforter as a sleeping bag and fade to black. then here he comes... with sushi! ok, i'm not mad anymore! eat and go back to sleep.

saturday. he's playing at merr.ick park again. i take pics of them during their 4 hr gig during the hottest part of the day (2-6pm) it seemed. then i made the mistake of getting an aerial shot of them and "falling" into be/be where I spend too much money on 4 shirts. the minute i signed the slip, my feet turned to lead. i trudged out with receipt in hand, str-8 dumbfounded. harry dred already knew the deal and said, "you spent too much money didn't you?" it was written all over my face! dreezy tried to be supportive and say, "you earned it! when do you ever go all out and buy whatever you want? that's your tutoring money right there!" sheeeeet, that's like 3x my tutoring money... i always buy what i want and that's the problem! i justify it with, "i ain't got no kids or major bills, so why not?" but that mini spree hurt my heart.

saturday, we pack up and leave merr.park. we're to meet at harry's house at 10pm so we can road trip to orlando for a show. 1248am, we finally leave! make it to o-town at 430am and hit the telly on i-drive. i have no idea what we're doing, i just came for the (come to find out, uncomfortable) ride. i'm lying. i'm "on staff" as the photo/videographer.

sunday. haitian flag fest!

we're at eola park and i was just hoping i'd bump into a haitian chick with box braids who lives in orlando named desy. maybe she was there, idk was busy taking pics and didn't have her # to set up a play date.

whatever the case, the event was nice! the most fun i've had at a haitian event cause for real, kompa.s fest was NOT getting it, nor were the lil gigs ma/wo.n has played at... no offense to any haitian reading this. y'all actually remind me of ghanians. way too aggressive over the little things.

anyhoo,
we leave there and try to find a place to eat. a place that devout vegetarians, lacto-ovo veggies, and 'only fish' veggies eat. lena, ralph and i were the meat eaters who could eat anywhere whereas the 'tarians were being mum abt where to eat! ralph said, "i will eat some griol (sp?) and not feel bad right now, speak up!" i picked an italian rest and told the vegans to eat some 3 cheese tortellini and holla back. i was hungry, hot and tired and they were perking. we order, eat on the road and make it back to s. florida at 1230. back to drew's where we hit the sheets only to be woken up by an alarm at 545am, seeing how i have to drive an hour to get back home and get ready for work. you already know today was a movie day. that was the plan. i saved it for the last 30 min of the day. even when i'm dead tired, i can't try my students' lives with a movie! we have addition and subtraction to master! books to read! kindergarten to conquer!! ha HA!

my favorite gossip blog abt fabulous black people that are young hasn't been read in a while (except for yesterday. and i had to share the mess that is de.reon with Jameil).

What's wrong with me?




there are 19 days of school left. i've lost a student (she moved) and gained a student (today was his 1st day) in the past 14 days.

i'm retaining 3, two of them are ESOL (eng speakers of other languages). ESOL retention is one of the hardest things you have to do. so much red tape! the school and the coordinator have to CTA (think crypogram, T=Y) and make sure its not cause of the language difference this child didn't make gains... blah blah blah. NO, THE CHILD STILL CAN'T WRITE THEIR NAME! THE CHILD KNOWS 10 capital letters and 6 lower case letters! no letter sounds, no numbers, can't give me ONE sight word, doesn't know the front cover from the back, cannot even copy a sentence of the board, NOTHING!

See, the problem with America is that they worry about being soooo P.C., that's it not P.C. I remember there was some BS about not using red pens or markers cause that would offend Asian students. I would bet my next paycheck it wasn't an Asian parent coming in complaining about that, but a cauc thinking too hard!

Whatever the case, I can't believe I'm sending my babies to 1st grade! I look at them and can't believe where they came from! I look at pics I took along the school year and see all the teeth that have come and gone, the coloring and play-doh activities that have turned into independent writing, books with 4 big words on a page that have been replaced with 3 or four sentences with size 14 font...

we're doing addition now and my heart SWELLS with joy at how fast they are absorbing this concept. to think that most could only count to 10 and they were showing off if they could count to 20 when I first got them. They can count by 2s, 5s and 10s now.
