Where's Waldo?

or better yet, Search for Stace!

Andrew came to my class on the last day of school and took this silly pic of my babies and I... can you spot me? here's a hint: you don't realize how chic all black is till highschool. I would've posted this earlier but I literally left the country less than 24 hours later!

for those of you who don't know me and those of you who do, can you see me doing anything else?? Teaching brings me sooooooo much joy! I've left my house in tears only to walk into the classroom, hear Mira say, "Ms. Kotei, i'm wearing pink shirt today, we're twins!!" or hear Brandon say, "Ms. Kotei, my mom is proud of my A on my math test, thank-you!"

I can't wait to start my profession! People always say, "Don't rush to grow up!" "The real world is not where it's at!" "Enjoy being a kid!"
Who said anything about not being a kid????

update

- amy winehouse is the shit! i have both her albums on the good ole iPod shuffle and I'm LOVING the first record 'Frank'. I think its better than 'return to black' which is, if you listen, almost copying motown. its still all good and better than whatever is out right now but if you like RTB, you'll ADORE 'Frank'

- i got a part time job at CVS. its at the same sopt i got my first job 8 years ago. the volume has died down TREMENDOUSLY so i won'tbe attending anger mgmt or breaking down and crying out of frustration from unruly customers

- my principal called me into her office for an informal chat about next year. she wants me on board at a 3rd grade teacher.

hol up. i'm a primary chick (K-2). she's sees me as a superstar who could do wonders in 3rd grade. its actually an honor for a 1st yr teacher to get offered a testing grade (FCAT) as their 1st year so... i'm getting geeked. plus, the 2nd graders i have now will be what next year? 3rd graders! thinking about looping...

- my trip to the zoo with kindergarten was soooooooo presh! they are sooooo adorable! i wish i knew how to upload vid cause i got some clips. i love being a teacher :-)

- Dreezy and i are grrrrrrrreat! he's so bomb. makes me want to laugh my head off at all the other fools. scoff and guffaw at them. ha HA! I stand victorious! that's how i feel :-)

OMG, he LOVES my hair! he thinks its bomb when its wrapped. you know you have a non black BF if you show up with your hair wrapped and he thinks its done. honey? this is a wrap. its what we black women do BEFORE BED. its not a hairstyle. take me to liberty city and see who's amazed. no-one. it is not a style. he's amazed when its not done and spellboud when its freshly relaxed. got the shit done on thursday and he LOVES how its roller wrapped and seemingly shorter. his fave? the swoop bang over one eye. LMAO!!!! short hair and long nails and the boy is good to go ;-)

So we went to Key Biscayne for the Arts Festival there and it wasn't all that.
more for old people. cross the bridge back to mainland florida
and walk to the arts park walking distance from Dreezy's house. it was the grand opening at Young Circle and the whole weekend was full of festivities. you know the flute player who played for ron burgandy in anchorman? the 'yaz flute'? nestor torres was soo there on friday night! and what you saw will ferell do in the movie was EXACTLY how he moves!!!! he was BOMB as was FIU's jazz band. also, this miami artist, romero britto, unveiled a piece for the park. it was sooooooo nice! the weather was great and the vibes were good!

haters wanna hate

so this weekend, didn't quite make it to an official fest but i did stumble upon st. patrick's day event in the middle of downtown hollywood. i have no pictures of that because i was walking home (dreezy's) from church. i was actually upset that i had green on cause i felt like i was patronizing the occassion. one time i pinched my dad cause he wasn't wearing green and he said, "does the irish man wear kente during february?"

damn pops. ole hater.

i did get some pics of us hanging out in a friend's backyard. we grilled (again) and enjoyed company on a lovely sunday afternoon. y'all should really move down south and wear tube tops and sarongs in March.

damn stace. ole hater

P.S. Jameil, why did this boy BUY fruit salad, hold up a freaking piece of cantaloupe and prove that he was right?

such a bitter loss. the only melon i eat is watermelon, sorry i didn't know the correct color! daaaaaaamn!

Marley Fest *updated with links*

so this weekend, Dreezy and I were watching the Saturday morning news show when we heard the International Chocolate Fest was in Miami from 930 till whenever. Bet. it was 8am, we could make it!

NOT!

went back to sleep, I woke up at 10 to watch 'That's So Raven' and he was still knocked the fcuk out. we FINALLY got up around noon, went to Aventura Mall for some sushi and headed to Bayfront for the 14th An Bob Marley Fest. HEADACHE trying to get in! security were some bitches, talking bout Dreezy (who does he think he is in this shot???) should park downtown and carry his keys in. ummmm? that's 98lbs. let him in and once he sets up, he parks somewhere else. nope. we had to wait for Johnny to come with the pass.

waiting in the car

Johnny and the rest of the band show up and its still a headache but whatever. we get in, they perform with Mikey (the drummer's son who EVERYONE thinks is me and Dreezy's) I hang out backstage the whole night, we went to the Hypnotiq VIP section for an hour, got me an Empress shirt designed by a Marley and we don't move our cars till we left. PRIME PARKING! mind you, we got there around 3 and left around 1130

so yeah, the show fest was BOMB!! I've never been and missed out when Erykah and Lauryn used to to come but it was still cool! it was str-8 reggae acts for the first time, with the exception of Mr. Cheeks who is an unofficial marley... he was wack! his last song was sooooooo 'Lights, Camera, Action' from '01!! anyhoo, i had a BLAST taking pics and seeing all the acts UP CLOSE! Gentleman is FINE and fiyah! Capleton is FIYAH as is Sizzla Kalonji! Believe it or not, we didn't stay for the Marleys. Too many of them. later found out they did a long set together but whatever. they all aren't talented. my fave one (stephen) has no stage presence. the most famous one (ziggy) is losing his touch, damien... never really felt him. I like his one song that was on red star sound vol 1 and there is another one who performed on a late show the other day... WACK song! sounds like dave chappelle's parody of dylan on making the band. anyhoo, here are some pics

i don't know how to rotate on here... just facebook.

Fest Groupies

so Dreezy was here for the weekend and as a joke, we said, "Let's go to India Fest 2007!" we went to downtown west palm beach and partook in the Indian cuisine. unfortunately, the audio wasn't up to par so we missed out on dances and music. saw a couple of people we know but honestly didn't have a good time. it was a "whatever" time. we got out the house. that was saturday.

on sunday, we looked through the paper and saw "Street Painting Fest" from 10am -6pm. So there! now that was BOMB!!! OMG, if i wasn't an ed major and could pick whatever major I wanted, i'd be an art history major!!! i LOVED that class which was a requirement for elem ed and took the 2nd part along with ancient civ art and american art. those are the only text books, i kept! anyway, we had a blast seeing familiar and unfamiliar art. the great wave is a fave of his and i have blank cards with japanese art on them including the great wave. love it. ooooh!!! you know the cover for prince's 'rainbow children' LP?? yeah, that artist also did field mob's 'from tha roota to tha toota' and the 'violator' covers. he was soooo there!!! and sooooo cute!! with his freckled self!! cbasi (i'm drawing a blank on his last name)

so yeah, we've decided to hit up 49 more fests this year. we went to canada fest three weeks ago in broward; this past weekend was india and street painting fest, this weekend is marley/carribean fest and we missed greek fest. ow!

random day

1. i must commend you bloggers who work, post, and comment here on our lovely blogger.

i do want to apologize for my sporadic posting and nil commenting... i'm still getting into the swing of things and when u have an MM who thinks you spend too much time on the PC -no matter how much time you spend on there- its kinda hard to post, read, and comment. i ALMOST miss the school daze i used to live in. would i go back? in a heartbeat. but, this is the best semester

i'm lying.

2nd semester at HU was bomb FOLLOWED by this semester. this is the most drama free

i'm lying.

MM is drama that is constant as opposed to 'he said/she said' drama of collegiates and professors acting like OTHER professors haven't given us a ton of homework.

homework. such a cute term. i actually liked homework. gave me something to do. i am really a good student! its just that damn attending class thing that gets in the way...

so yeah, kudos to those of you who post and live at the same time. me and X will get out bloggers lives together soon.

2. i got a new phone

yes, this is my 3rd one in... 6 months and no, i'm not a drug dealer. just trying to grow up little by little. dreezy sent me some links for phones and services i should look into. last night, walked into sam's club with $5 for some water, walked out with a pink razor from t-mobile. i would put my number out here but i don't know it. also, toni, i tried to put you in my fave five but i think i have the wrong number! i have a 'toni' and i have a 'k' as faves and none of them are you. not a good look.

3. valentine's day

is everyday for me. i went to a lounge where Dreezy was playing for v-day. fell asleep during the 1st set and almost died from 2nd hand smoke in the 2nd set. when i got back to his place, i had one of the (red) shirts from the GAP on my pillow :-)
mine says ado(red). i was like, "ado red? aDO red? i don't get it" he replied "my little blond, you're adored"

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! thanks Dreezy!!! seeing how i got my hair done, roses, and some earrings over the weekend, wednesday was just another day. OMG, I must share pix of my class! if you're on facebook, knock yourself out!

but at least i can comb it!

daniQ warned about dominicans doing hair... was in aventura over the weekend (the city just south of hollywood) and i SWEAR swear the D.Repub version of Charo was doing my hair!! fake eyelashes and nails to boot. 1st of all, she parted my hair in like, 10 sections; i looked like a haitian in elementary school. she relaxed each part and rinsed each part. it took 2.5 hours to do my whole head. she thought i was joking when i told her i need sensitive scalp. i was crying on 10 separate occasions this past sunday. she also thought 'medium' would work on my hair. i saw she bust out a brand new jar of 'coarse' when she finished the 1st one...one jar for just the bottom half of my hair...

BREAK IT OUT BITCH! THIS IS 100% AFRICAN GRADE!

so we finally make it to the shampoo bowl to for real neutralize and shampoo my entire head cause before, as stated before, she was just rinsing. shit was still processing and shit. and she says i need a deep hydrating conditioner. fine. whatever. i know my hair is black hay. we work that out and proceed to the cut. i supposedly need the back chopped off.

i HATE hairdressers.

i really do.

cut and then a roller wrap that turns into blow dry with the brush white girls use to curl their hair... so after chemicals burn, i get thermal burned several times with the blowdryer and metallic brush. i ask myself this question every 5-8 weeks:

why do i relax my hair again?
so thinking about cluizel, jameil, and madam the ENTIRE time...

mind you, this was after the fiasco of NOT getting my hair done as scheduled on saturday at 4pm. i left the salon in tears from emotional distress of my dreams being dashed over a 2 hour wait. yeah, drew had to leave his rehearsal to come get me AND.... the reason why i was crying is cause i was on my shit and didn't have any advil. so, i'm all hypersensitive and i just KNEW the hairdresser didn't want to do my hair :-( andrew is all with the, "we are not crying in my car. please stop crying! oh gosh" i didn't mean to fluster him but i couldn't help it! i told him to take out his clippers and cut it ALL off next time! i've done it before...

i seriously have a love/hate relationship with my hair. so not healthy.

i'm HUNGRY!

this weekend, i ate a 14oz hamburger. so ready for the cheeseburger cheeseburger 16oz challange! BRING ON THE BEEF!!!

I asked Dreezy (a vegetarian) if he found it disgusting/unattractive that i polished off a big ass hamburger in the same time he finished a modest mahi-mahi sandwich and fries and his charming ass said "hell naw! my girl is a champion!".

I fail to believe there's anything sexy about a 106lb pounder demolishing 1lb of food (inlcuding the bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, and condiments) IN ADDITION TO some fries. The sad thing is I wasn't even that hungry.

I think i'm kinda embarassed abt my appetite b/c his is so small and whenever we cook, we make the same size potions for eachother. not cool when he's a grown ass 250+ man and... i'm not.

so that was sunday afternoon. saturday night, we went with another couple to this BOMB japanese restaurant. btwn the 4 of us, $135 on sushi and drinks (ONLY 2). dreezy and i ate abt $35 worth. yeah. paul and lena are in the process of moving and hadn't eaten since thursday so..... they ordered whatever sounded good.
that's soft-shell crab tempura in her mouth.

so that was saturday night; technically sunday morning. saturday evening, when i got there, there was garlic basil rice, coconut breaded-pan fried orange ruffy fish, and pita bread... YUM-O!! soooo glad the boy can cook! not just cook, but LOVE to cook!

sunday morning, i tried to make biscuits, scrambled eggs and veggie sausage but... i SWEAR there is a curse on me when it comes to biscuits!! so i've given up on making them from scratch but even the pilsbury joints that POP out of a tube come out bad. so we went to dunkin donuts (walking distance from his crib) where i tore up some powdered and cinnamons joints and drank the hell out some berry punch we got at publix next door. oh yeah, and cause i was under the weather, i guzzled OJ by the gallon. nothing like a sniveling, sneezing, chick eating her heart out all weekend. what? starve a fever, and feed a cold right?

don't you think i'm sexy?

my weekend

so remember how i said i want to be where musicians are and what not? yeah-no. this weekend, I went to orlando with dreezy and if you've seen 'lost in translation', you have an idea of what being the signif other of an artist can be like. now clearly, i cannot speak for everybody but... it's kinda lonely. or boring. or both.

saturday, we got to the O around 3. the promoter hadn't paid for the hotel yet so we could only hang around till that happened. drew and i walked to a MLK festivity that just ended. walked back and waited. other band mates started to show up but still no promoter. he finally shows and its cool. they decide for sound check at 7 even though the show is at midnight. we find somewhere to eat but me being with a vegetarian reggae band... yeah. i ate jamaican food which was good but not what i'm used to. the minute we get back to the telly, the wife of the headliner drew is playing with lets everyone know that sound check has been moved up to 6. after fnally getting our room and getting something to eat all of 15 minutes later, that left us with 20 minutes to nap. no nap. dreezy leaves me in the hotel room and i just sit. i graded all my papers the day before and didn't bring anything to read. i don't have my charger cause drew was supposed to bring the one i left at his house. he brings the charger for his bluetooth headset. no phone, no books...what to do?

drew comes back some 3 hours later. sound check wasn't as smooth as planned and apparently, b/c of some favors, the band has swelled to 8 people with half never playing with eachother before. great. we try to sleep but the previous fatigue has left. we watch football, tell jokes and stagger sleep. 11 rolls around and we have to go. showers and we're out. why don't they get on stage till 1230? and have to do another sound check? but... before all that, we're in the green room and you know why its called the green room??? i'll tell you this, the paint isn't green.

so as drew is playing, i'm sitting in a corner by myself. i don't know anyone there; i'm not from orlando, i'm just with the band. unfortunately, i don't know any of his songs; my reggae knowledge is Bob and a couple of Sizzla tracks. yeah.

they finish playing at 230 and its time to break down. we get back at 330 cause drew caught out ASAP. remember how we missed out on a nap? that bitch came back hard as the fcuk. we crash.

sunday was cool. we leave and go to the mall at millenia. i got a turquoise dress from express and some MAC 'oh baby' lip lacquer. and we hit the road. 3 hrs later, we're in hollywood. we nap and get ready for another show. this time, i come with. sound check at the club with people who don't want things moved around killed the fun vibe the band came in there with. i'm again sitting by myself and i actually fall asleep. why did some haitian bang on the table and wake me up? PISSED! the minute the show is over, we're out.

monday. we sleep. sleep and eat. i had the most vanglorious crossaint at a french bistro walking distance from his place and ate sushi that night. he lives downtown so everything is uber cool.

that was my MLK weekend. no more shows for me if i can help it.

i'm back!

OMG, it took me FOR EV ER to figure out what my user name and password were!! apparently, since i now have gmail, its a whole new log-in process.

i hate beta.

now onto some news!

so, i've been placed for my spring semester.. so excited b/c i have 2nd graders and they are the BEST 7 & 8 year olds ANYONE could ask for!!! OMG, I am SOOOOO enthralled by my class of 17 students and my teacher is BOMB too. No lie, I hope I can be like her when I grow up. So biting her style come August 2007. Not only that but we are soooo similar!

her initials were SK before she got married and now she's SS. Jameil and Toni, y'all may know where I'm going with this.

she drives an Altima, I drive an Altima

she curses like a drunk sailor, and guess what I do????

it was funny when she dropped a narrative chapter book and exclaimed, "Awww! Sons of bitches!! Damn it!!!" (I just say, "BITCHES!") If you know me, when something minor happens, I act like its the end of the world. I dropped my PENCIL in the parking lot and my homegirl Kitty thought I lost some money the way I was acting. I didn't get ketchup with my hashbrowns from Mc Donald's one morning and Jameil found it amusing that I was more pissed my breakfast was dry and not that I had lost my plane ticket home and had to buy a new one. yeah.

so yeah, internship is BOMB AS THE FUCK! too excited about EVERYDAY. what I don't like is having to be there no later than 715am even though school doesn't start till 8am. my teacher, who reminds me of OLD rosie- not the VIEW Rosie- is an EARLY bird. I'm a morning person but not that morning. sheeeeet.

for the writing activity, my directing teacher had the students write about Ms. Kutieboots.

Today a new teacher came to our classroom. Her name is Ms. Kutieboots. She is training to be a teacher. Being the first day, she introduced herself. She is going to teach us. She came from Tellahassee. She is a nice teacher.

When I came back to school we had a student teacher and her name was Kutieboots and I am looking forward for tomorrow and I can't wait for her to teach me.

Dear Ms. Kutieboots
I know that you will be a great teacher. And I wish you were my teacher. thanks for comeing.
Love, D

Kutieboots she is Nice and I think she should take ms. s place She s kind of nice. I love school I think she love school to.

Ms. Kutieboots is a nice and pretty. When she told us about the tests. Sh is a good studen. Sh emust get a lot of A's. When she show us were she lived I was surprissd. I like Ms. Kutieboots she looks like a lot fo fun. I hope she stay intill the end of the year. I like Ms. Kutieboots.

Ms. Kutieboots is relly nice. and her favorite coler is dark pink. And i know that she is in high shcool. and she came from different plases. and she likes dogs and at her house she got two dogs. and she like Bears and she got so much frends. she even has more frends than me at shcool. and at sports she loves to play tenes a lot.

awwwwwwwwww!!! don't worry! i have more writing samples to share but i have to go grade papers! *BEAMING*

P.S. another one of my dreams has come true. i got a thing for musicians right? i want to be a muse, i want to be backstage, i want to be where they are. well, a couple of months back, my last boo told me he wrote a song inspired my me. too thrilled! its called "get it" or has that phrase as the chorus...i forget.
now
dreezy is playing t-bone with him this weekend in Orlando and guess who gets to come along???
*CHEESING*

an update

so Dreezy and i were at the playground with a homie and her son on New Year's Eve. I'm fussing cause apparently in Miami, iguanas run rampant and there were a couple of them at the park. No ma'am. made me start itching just thinking that a reptile might be sitting on the slide with me.
i'm smiling on the outside...

and speaking of itching, i was trying hard not to part with all my lip glosses when Dreezy was reading the ingredients of the pomegranate jar to me. he mentioned castor oil and i jumped.

"Castor oil?! CASTOR OIL?! Are you serious? OMG, I am soooo allergic to castor oil!! I mean, I only break out in HIVES when castor oil touches my skin! How do I know? Everytime my mom would oil my scalp with something containing castor oil, its like I rolled in an red ant pile while wearing a poison ivy onesie dried with poison sumac dryer sheets!! DAAAAAAAAMN! how come all this time, I didn't know? damn you GAP."

I sighed as i threw it away. that's an era of Stace gone with 2006. y'all, i had a MAKE-UP bag full of JUST LIP GLOSS! between bath and body works, victoria's secret, the GAP, Sally's, bonnie bell, lipsmackers, sephora, etc...

i think he thinks he's a model. LMAO! Derek Zoolander better watch out! This was before we headed out to South Beach where like last year, I spent the first moments of the New Year in the car looking for parking... i got in at 6 this morning!

apparently, the rest of us missed the BYOM (bring your own mask) memo. this was at a house -excuse me- condo party in one of the Isles in Dade County.

Hmmm, Pineapple

a pic of Dreezy and I in my Sitting Room. Mom sliced up some fresh pineapple and we went to work! I won't post the pic of me eating cause its not pretty! Plus, I didn't know Macs have built in cameras so I was REALLY caught off guard! Yes, there is a scarf on my head. What? I had to maintain my wrap...

The Contract

So I'm guessing Meddling Mom had something to do with this... on Saturday, Dreezy's THIRD day at my home, he kept on talking about exclusive rights and what not. He told me he wants me to agree to this contract he's drawing up. I told him as long as its typed, I have no problems but I did ask if he wants me to sign it in blood with a fingerprint and get it notarized. Laughs all around, he told me I'm the only girl for him so a verbal contract will do. All that aside, I check my she-mail right before I read my blog and Dreezy sends me this.

Contract

here it is in all it's glory:

will u be my girlfriend?

circle 1 for yes, 2 for no

1

So Blogger fam, mark the date. All your wishes have come true. Well most of them. I'm waiting till I get married for the rest ;-)

Is this what December is?

So this was taken at the last party I went to. As you can see by the date, it was a while ago. Somehow, I thought this Graduation weekend would've been liver. For whatever reason, Neechie and I keep missing eachother and now I'm in the Palm Beaches! Boooooooooo!!! We were supposed to get up after my Th. night exam even though I had an apple pinning ceremony the following morn but btwn my money and her brother, neither one of us made it to the party I heard was lame anyway. Then friday, i had apple pinning, and EXAM that i didn't get out of till 415pm. graduation was at 5; i didn't make it. i went home to shower and change out my business attire that i had worn for the SECOND day in a row and i found myself in my bed. woke up around 8. yeah. friday wasn't a good day either cause one of our orgs has been in the news and verdicts were in. i ended up drinking champagne with a part of my trifecta.

and then there were two. Ms. Duval is goooooone!!!

so basically, my last days of undergrad were uneventful. i miss the days of high, middle, and elementary school where EVERYBODY had the same last day of school and it was a joyous occassion. in college, its depending on what exams you had, that's when you leave. oh well, april 29th is sure to be bomb!

so i'm back home now. wow. i'm home for good. or at least till 2010. then i'm making major moves to the west, to the west!

P.S. Yes, I'm always wearing a scarf. i love to tie my hair with scarves. i don't even know how many i have but i started getting them as a highschool graduation present back in the days when the millenium was new.

Part I: Agape

my dad
the best thing in the world to me. my dad is "so hip, even his errors are correct". i'm lying. he be making some mistakes that make me look at him like, "what were you thinking???" then i attribute them to him being a man. yo, i'd be my dad's friend even if we weren't related. just based on his music collection that i find is never ending, my pops is the coolest futhermucker i know.

my mom
brought me onto this world and everyday as i get older, i realize everything she's done was out of love. when my dad was out making a living as a recent graduate, for his wife and brand new baby, it was mommy who held us down. i used to be sooo mad at her. so mad. i felt like she ruined my life for the longest time but i am bomb and you know why? my mom made me that way.

my little sister
she is everything i want to be. yes she's 8 years younger but this girl is the coolest chick i know. so level headed, so focused, so determined. a little jazzy and spunky like her older sister; i'd take her anywhere with me cause she can hang with the best of them. b/c she was bullied in elementary school (that shit still chokes me up), she's soooo kind to everyone. she remembers what it was like to be teased for no reason and that's what makes her the most popular and loved girl i know.

my brother (when we were younger)
its sad to say but he hurt me hard this year. just as bad as JBB and Nigel. before he got here, my brother and i were best friends. BEST. I loved that boy more than anything on this earth, in this solar system, in this universe. i was his defender on the playground, i taught him how to blow bubbles, we learned how to ride bikes together. y'all, that was my heart. ask neechie abt the brother feeling. i don't know if i feel that way anymore. he makes me mad. i look forward to coming home and not seeing his car in the driveway. i enjoy cooking, inviting people over and him not touching ONE single item. what is that? that's NOT agape. but it used to be.

Andrew
y'all. if i could get every love song on this planet; in spanish, greek, croatian, and Ga; instrumentals and even the silent overtures, it wouldn't be enough. i read posts from X and think to myself, "yep...yep...that too, yep" can i just let you know some songs he puts on my mixtapes??

Breathtaker- martin luther
what can i say? i just want sit and be around you
undivide my attention and play in your hair
and i'll be by your side if you call me
to help ease your mind, soul, and body

Love, Love, Love- donny hathaway
Love love love you can't imagine
what you did to me aww baby
and love love your love everytime you smile
it goes through me all the time
Day by day i'm fallin more in love with you
And thats no lie, cross my heart and honey I hope to die
Cuz I'm not tryin to mislead ya believe me girl I really need ya

Find a Way- ATCQ
Messing me up, my whole head
Teasing me, just like Tisha, did Martin
Now look at what you're starting
Schoolboy's crush and it ain't on the hush
The whole world sees it but you can't
My peoples they complain, sit and rave and rant
Your name is out my mouth like an ancient chant
Got me like a dog as I pause and pant...

and on and on.

there is soooo much i want to do for this boy! i wish i could spoil him and and i so see what beyonce and children meant with 'cater to you'. can i cook for you? can i make you comfortable? what will it take to make you happy? just being near me? awwww, aren't you the sweetest thing ever?? omigosh i can only hope everybody has in their life someone like my best friend in the whole wide world. he is everything positive. EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. there is no-one who can compare to him and i would only be doing you a disservice by giving you my number b/c you know what? i bet you can't do it like him. and to think i've never seen him even remotely undressed but like bryan adams once said, i can see my unborn children in his eyes.

get it love.

Part II: Philia

Yesterday was my godsister's wedding.
kissing a church member
after the ceremony

Aside from one of her 'maids passing out, the event was short and sweet. I will admit that my favorite part was the end when I got to see everybody from the old neighborhood. it was like a family reunion minus the drunks; filled with so much warmth and love. Oh my gosh, i was sooooooooooooooooo happy to see my childhood friends, "aunties" and "uncles". Everyone has spread about the country and it was great seeing "family" who flew in from Kansas City, Atlanta, Charlotte; the students who drove from all over Florida...Tally, Tampa, Miami; and the folks who are right here in town. The engineers, MBAs, teachers, nurses, accountants, law and pharmacy students, professors, flight attendants, politicians, coaches. Of course some were missing like Rashard who played for UM and is at Jax balling with the Jags, and Kali who's in med school at Morehouse. I saw neighbors who i could help but to ask, "Who are you? Are you?!?!?!!? Oh my gosh I haven't seen you in soooooooooooo long!!! OMG Mommy!!! Did you see?!? Oh, you did? True. OMG!!!!"
Ashley, my bro and I at the cocktail reception. don't you wish you were in S. Florida? Even though it was a 'winter' wedding, clearly, sleeveless was the order of the day. It was HOT!!

I was waving my little hands off at people across the way and then we had to leave the sanctuary so Monica could take pics. Before that though, we had to have a Spencer Lakes (my neigborhood) picture.
mom dukes in the African outfit of course. i can't wait to see what she wears for my wedding

it does take a village to raise a child. i love my village.
